Alynthiath hated the cold.

No. That was an exaggeration. Alynthiath did not hate anything about the surface. Nor did she love anything about the surface. Hate and love were two forms of attachment, and she did not care enough for the surface to attach herself to it in any way, even if her duty to the Colony forced her to spend her time here. At best, the surface was not intolerable; at worst, it was an irritant.

The cold on the surface…irritated her.

So...Dragon Year's just kept on breathing scorched earth all over my bidness, but I finally got a short break. I really needed a mental reset before jumping back into my illustration work and what better way to cool down all that fire than a water theme?
Lorelei is the lovely OC creation of

, and others like

have had a grand time drawing her, so I wanted to take a turn. Once again I betray my weakness for the ladies of the fish-tailed persuasion, naturally with a malleable flair. I approached Almond and he was kind enough to let me borrow Lorelei while providing some neat backstory:

"Lorelei is an over-inquisitive mermaid who, along with her sister Trisha, stumbled upon a magical jar that unleashed a horde of supernatural nastiness upon the shores and depths of the ocean, and magically bonded 2 special armlets that granted elastic properties for Lorelei to hunt down and recapture all the evil critters that escaped. As Lorelei masters her new powers and gets the knack of this sudden responsibility, she may uncover other magical trinkets and allies to help her along the way."
I included a special cameo of another OC of

, the intrepid treasure hunter Josie Teather, who as it happens is also imbued with elastic abilities of her own. Coincidence? Well, they're both investigating the same altar of the snake goddess that created the jar and the arm bands, so who knows?
