The second character in my story. For the time being, Alyntiath (placeholder). Let us call her a variation on a theme from Bubblegum Jane's shape-changing powers. Following a theme all 3 main characters will share.

While BJ can imitate forms, Aly adopts characteristics of living creatures. There is a limit, which will be revealed in the story. Lacking BJ's elastic resilience, Aly has "biological armor" to protect herself. Which of course also limits flexibilities compared to BJ.

While BJ tends to be a free agent, Aly is more or less an instinctive fighter, with a complex set of motivations, so she's going to play the wild card.

So is she like an enemy of Bubblegum Jane or ally or a little bit of both?

Not really an ally, they'll bump heads and neither will back down easily.

Another wonderful character design; I'll join those who remark on the well-done contrast between BJ (God, I feel dirty just typing it ;)) and Aly. I notice many more sharp, angular lines versus Jane's smooth curves. And the short hair. Short hair = business. As for color, something makes me think "mantis green." Maybe it's because she looks like she eats heads during her downtime. ;P

Shapeshifters have often been depicted as nigh invulnerable beings who never seem to die even when their bodies are subjected to the most destructive of means. It's made me wondered if, eventually, would the most pure-hearted of individuals fall into the trap of absolute power.

Seeing a shapeshifter who's vulnerable and must wear body armour is a welcome change of pace.

Yes yes! Must have the contrast to match the personalities! :)

Similar to BJ, I wanted another descending pattern down her body and legs. Part of this might be natural inclination from years of shapeshifting, but would also help with drawing motion and the different shapes.

Guyver Blue, eh? Heh. I've tested a few color schemes and they seem to make the difference when mixing the 2 girls up in a fight. >:) I'll have to post an example soon!

But I wanted the opportunity to show the difference between my colored and non-colored pieces and Aly seemed a good candidate.

Wow...

Like eent242 said, interesting contrast to BJ... At first glance, her complex design (to me) would have been hard to draw consistantly, if she only had stretching powers. As we see in your following examples, being a shapeshifter allows her (and the artist) great "flexibility" with regards to picky details such as this... ;)

It will be interesting to see what her color scheme will look like, though right now I've got her pictured in "Guyver" blue in my mind's eye... ;P
